About the Treatment

Botox® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical physician and nurse administrated treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox® Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and non-surgical combined). It is the only treatment of this type approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Procedure & Results

The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and has no downtime. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Results appear within days after treatment and may continue to improve for up to a week. Results thereafter show for up to 4 months and may be followed by subsequent treatments.

Treatable Conditions

Conditions that may be treated include:

  • moderate to severe brow frown lines
  • Pre-treatment

Before treatment, avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti- inflammatories, for at least a week in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

    Potential Side Effects and Post-treatment

After treatment, avoid heavy exertion and laying face down for a short period following treatment. The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.

    Safety Information

Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. Conditions that may exclude you from Botox® Cosmetic treatments include pregnancy and certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome.
